Brian Kyhos
Brian Kyhos provides independent consulting to help clients create effective communications strategies to build their business and protect their reputation.
Brian has broad communications planning and implementation experience, including corporate reputation; employee engagement, with an emphasis on change communications; corporate reputation; media relations; message and media training; digital communications; crisis communications; and corporate responsibility, including philanthropy.
Brian has deep experience in issues and crisis management across a range of topics and industries. For global healthcare companies, this experience includes quality issues, product tampering and supply chain issues, sensitive data announcements, regulatory actions, complex issues involving governments and patient advocacy organizations, and pricing.
Before establishing his independent consultancy, Brian was global communications director for the biopharmaceutical division of Baxter, and had senior communications roles at Motorola and Abbott.
While at Baxter, Brian managed internal and external communications for the $6 billion business, supporting the business president and his global leadership team. Brian’s work included supporting the establishment of the division as Baxalta, a stand-alone corporation. At Motorola, Brian served as the global external communications leader for the corporation’s primary business-to-business (B2B) division, called Networks & Enterprise. At Abbott, Brian managed the team responsible for media relations, internal communications and executive communications within the company’s Abbott International division. His team supported local organizations in 60 countries around the world.
Brian’s agency experience includes four years as a senior member of the corporate practice in the Chicago office of Golin and nearly six years with Fleishman-Hillard based in St. Louis, Chicago and Paris.
Before moving into public relations, Brian worked in print and broadcast journalism. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism.
Brian also is a licensed attorney. He graduated from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.
